Why You Need to Get Realistic in Order to Get Noticed

I  talk a lot about how small business owners need to Get R.E.A.L if they want to attract more clients. In the next four posts, I’ll explain what that means.

Today’s post is brought to you by the letter “R” and stands for realistic.

Let me be clear: being realistic does NOT mean being pessimistic.

I want you to be realistic about three things when it comes to maximizing  and monetizing your online and offline presence:

1. Your expectations  –  What do you want your business to look like  6-12 months from now? How can PR help you get there?

2. Your challenges – What are the challenges/obstacles you face and what are the possible solutions. Brainstorm until your brain hurts  and think of everything you can do (no matter how crazy, expensive, or impossible it seems).

3. Your commitment – What are you willing to invest in terms of time and/or money to achieve your goals. If the answer is “nothing” or “not much”,  then you may need to adjust your expectations.

If one of the challenges that’s  holding you back is your own fear, check out this video from Joleene DeRosiers Moody of Joleene Speaks who takes conquering fear to a whole new level—like 10,000 feet!

I’d love to know what you came up with when you delved into your expectations, challenges, and commitments. Please email me your thoughts.

Thank you for sharing this space with me.
