Are You WILLING to Leap?

Are You WILLING to Leap?

leap-i-can-and-i-willAre you willing to leap? Notice I did not ask you if you are READY to Leap, but rather, are you WILLING? One of my mentors, Caterina Rando, always says “don’t wait until you’re ready, act when you’re willing.” This has always struck a chord with me because we are rarely ready to take the leap, or put ourselves out there in a big way, stepping out of our comfort zones, in order to get to where we want to be, but we have to be willing. It’s like parenthood, no one is ever ready and 100% prepared before their little ones arrive, but they are willing (and super excited!) to take the leap into parenthood.

In life and business, if we wait until we are totally prepared before we launch a program, make those phone calls, start an exercise program or write that novel, our lives will pass us by and before we know it, it will be too late.

Staying in our comfort zone can be comfortable, and it can also get really uncomfortable for those of us who are being called to something bigger. When you’re getting ready to face a fear, ask yourself, “What choice am I going to make right now? And I going to move forward and take a leap, getting closer to my dreams, or am I going to hold back and stay where I am? If I chose to stay where I am, what could I be missing out on?”

I want to challenge you this week to take the leap and build your wings on the way down. Yes, it’s scary! Yes, you will have to step out of your comfort zone. Yes, you will grow your business and change your life!

What’s more important to you-staying safe in your comfort zone, or having a thriving, incredible life? So, if you’re with me, I want you to decide which mountain you want to tackle first, step up to the edge, take a giant leap and flap like crazy on the way down. I’ve chosen my mountain, stepped up to the edge, jumped and am flap, flap, flapping.
Which leap will you take?

Courage or Fear, Which Will You Choose?

Courage or Fear, Which Will You Choose?

Retro style image of a rustic wooden sign in an autumn park with the words Courage - Fear offering a choice of reaction and attitude with arrows pointing in opposite directions in a conceptual image.

Being an entrepreneur is not easy. It takes hard work, dedication, persistence, personal growth, and most of all, courage.

Courage is taking action IN SPITE of fear, something we all have. Fears of success, of failure, of the unknown, of being seen, of not being good enough…the list goes on. We have a choice when faced with fear. We can run, hide and take cover, or we step up, feel the fear, and do it anyway. We can take the opportunity to get out of our comfort zone, moving us towards our dreams or we stay in our comfort zone and live an ok life, keeping our dreams just that. Dreams.

One of the most powerful questions to ask yourself when making a choice is, “Is this decision moving me towards my goals?” If your answer is no, ask yourself “why am I holding back? What is my fear? What is the WORST that can happen if I take this risk? If I decide not to take myself forward towards my goal, what could I miss out on?”

You see, most people let their fears control them and never create the life of their dreams. A big difference between successful people and unsuccessful people is courage. Facing the fear and doing it anyway. Stepping out of their comfort zone. Giving it all they’ve got. Doing anything it takes to get there.

So I ask you, where are you holding back? Are your decisions taking you towards your goals? What’s the worst that can happen if you felt the fear and did it anyway?

I challenge you to do ONE thing out of your comfort zone, today, to move you towards a goal. When you do it, CELEBRATE! I would love to hear all about it too, so leave me a comment.

Is Fear Running the Show?

Is Fear Running the Show?

Doubt Kills More Dreams Than Failure Ever Will cardDo you find yourself holding back in fear that your business will fail? That you will attempt something new and it won’t succeed? Are you pretending to be busy instead of REALLY building your business? If you don’t give your best and it fails, it will be less painful, right?

What if I told you that failure is essential to your success? In life and business, you WILL make mistakes. You WILL fail. You WILL screw things up. That’s inevitable. You have got to be willing to learn from your failures when they happen. A willingness to be vulnerable, to make mistakes and to fail is crucial to your success.

“Failure is simply a price we pay to achieve success.” –John Maxwell

Self-Care Quick Tips

Self-Care Quick Tips

Today I wanted to talk a little bit about Self-Care. As women entrepreneurs, we tend to go, go, go and push ourselves really hard to create the success we want and sometimes we work way to hard and we burn ourselves out.

A couple things you can do to avoid burn out, is take breaks when you start to feel yourself and your body getting really tired, don’t keep pushing through. Stop, take a break, do something rejuvenating and nice for yourself and your body. Take a bath, go for a walk, sit in your garden, enjoy the sunshine, read for a few minutes, meditate-something that will relax and rejuvenate you. Continue reading “Self-Care Quick Tips”

Are Your Interpretations Stopping You?

Are Your Interpretations Stopping You?

This is part eight in a series on how to create your best year ever as an introverted woman entrepreneur. If you have not read part seven, you can read it here.

Interpretations are the fourth big energy block holding you back from success. The past few weeks we have talked about gremlins or the inner critic, limiting beliefs and assumptions. Today I want to talk about interpretations. What is an interpretation? It is an opinion you create about an event, person, situation, or experience that you believe to be true. I like to use the analogy of wearing sunglasses with different colored lenses. If you wear glasses with red lenses, you will see the world in a completely different way than someone wearing blue or green lenses. We grow up and we interpret things based on our life experiences and the things that surrounded us and we look at things in a certain way.

Anais Nin once said “We do not see the world as IT is, we see the world as WE are.”

The best way to get past any block is to ask yourself questions, to challenge your beliefs. Continue reading “Are Your Interpretations Stopping You?”

Assumptions Holding You Back?

Assumptions Holding You Back?

This is part seven in a series on how to create your best year ever as an introverted woman entrepreneur. If you have not read part six, you can read it here.

Today I want to talk about Assumptions, one of the four big energy blocks that I’ve been talking about the past few weeks that hold you back from your dreams and success you desire. What are assumptions? It is the expectation that because something happened in the past, that it will happen again. That history will repeat itself. It’s like driving with your rear view mirror. You don’t drive with your rear view mirror, you look forward when you drive. Looking forward, not to your past, is how you want to live your life.

Anthony Robbins says “The quality of your life will be determined by the questions you ask yourself.”

When you have an assumption come up that stops you in your tracks, I want you to ask yourself this question: “Just because ‘this thing’ happened in the past, why must it happen again?” This will help you break through that belief to move you towards your dreams.

Join me next week for the last of the energy blocks, Interpretations.

Erin Summ Headshot RS 3x4 (1)

How long have you been in business? Since 2012.

Why did you begin your business? I’ve always known since I was a little girl that I was put on this planet to make a big difference. I have a psychology degree and when I found coaching I fell in love and knew that was what I wanted to do. So I went to coach training and became a Certified Professional Coach and have been on the path ever since.

What is your mission for your business? I work with shy and introverted women entrepreneurs to help them step past their fears of being seen and heard, past their limiting beliefs and into confidence so they can be more successful and make a bigger impact with their business. My mission is to help as many women as possible around the world stand in their confidence and value and to shine their beautiful light so that together, we can all make a bigger difference, spreading love to as many people as possible by sharing our messages.

If there was one thing you wish you knew before you began your business, what would that be? That there is no “magic formula” for success. There are a lot of programs that have big claims and it is hard not to believe that instant success can be had by following 3 simple steps. Every business and business owner is different and something that works for one, does not necessarily work for another. We have to test everything and do what works for us, while working smart, being consistent and building relationships. Continue reading Erin Summ

Unleash Your Power to Become Your Unstoppable Self

Unleash Your Power to Become Your Unstoppable Self

Lady-in-red-cape-facing-RIGHT-direction-300x199This is part six in a series on how to create your best year ever as an introverted woman entrepreneur. If you have not read part five, you can read it here.

In the last article, I discussed gremlins and how they come up as you are starting to play bigger, causing fear and stopping you in your tracks. Introverts tend to have a harder time with seeing their value and feeling “good enough” as their extroverted friends. One of the most important keys to stopping these gremlins in your mind is to become aware of when you are living in your stoppable self. Once you are aware, you can begin to shift consciously into more empowering thoughts, and your Unstoppable self.

What are Your Thoughts Whispering in Your Ear?

What are Your Thoughts Whispering in Your Ear?

Woman with tin can phoneThis is part five in a series on how to create your best year ever as an introverted woman entrepreneur. If you have not read part four, you can read it here.

“It’s not what you say out of your mouth that determines your life, it’s what you whisper to yourself that has the most power.” – Robert Kiyosaki

I love this quote because when it comes to gremlins (aka the Inner Critic), it is absolutely true. You do not hold yourself back because the voice in your head says you are amazing. You hold yourself back because the voice in your head says you are not “good enough” as you are. This voice stops us in our tracks, which is why I also like to refer to it as our “Stoppable Self.”

Our gremlins come up as we start to step out of our comfort zone, to play a bigger game. They are not trying to hurt us, on the contrary, they are attempting to protect us and keep us safe. The unknown can be scary, especially for us introverts who fear truly showing up, and being seen and heard in 100 percent our authentic selves.
