Marketing Influence Is an Inside Job

If you are good at creating influence, your business will soar. If you aren’t, it cannot take flight. Successful marketing means building influence with four groups of people: potential clients, existing clients, vendors and referrers.

How can you build influence?

Listen well. In marketing, becoming influential comes from being influenced yourself. When you listen to what others need from you, your company or your products, you are in the best position to give it to them. When you listen to what works for others in your industry and keep up to date on industry trends, you are well poised to influence existing and potential clients to take actions that have good results. When you listen to what referrers or vendors need from you, you can take care of them in ways that reinforce them taking care of you.

Teach others. When you educate another person on your business topics, you create influence. The more effective you are at sharing and teaching, the more influence you’ll have with those who use your information to improve their businesses. Teach what you have passion for, be a thought leader, use your own experience or share good research. Bonus: teaching is a relational activity that can garner the feedback you need for good listening.

Be responsive. Refine your message, services, products or customer care—indeed your whole business—to orient yourself around what your customers care about and what they want. What’s the point of listening well if you don’t respond in a way that shows you heard? The more responsive you are in all aspects of your business—with potential clients, existing clients, vendors and referrers—the more you will be trusted, admired and hired. Now that’s effective influence!

Listen, teach and be responsive to build influence and watch your business soar.

What is “GLOW?”

GLOW is the essence that makes you who you are.

When you are in alignment with your truth, your voice and your heart, you grow your GLOW.

Allow yourself to trust your GLOW, it lights the way as you traverse the many pathways that you take in your life. It shines light into your darkness and it illuminates what you may not be able to see with your naked eyes.

GLOW is your guiding light. We are always at choice to allow our GLOW to shine.

We are also at choice to dim our GLOW so that we may fit in or be accepted, so that we don’t stand out or make waves. Are you holding back? Are you playing small? If so, you’re denying your God given gift to GLOW.

Were you told that you are too much, too emotional, too sensitive, too loud, too quiet or too strong? Or maybe you’ve been told that you’re not enough, not capable enough, not smart enough, not thin enough, just simply, not enough.

Living dim does not serve anyone. As a matter of fact, it diminishes why you’re here, it diminishes your purpose and it diminishes the most important relationship you’ll ever have, the relationship you have with yourself, which then affects every other relationship you have in the world.

It takes courage to stand in your GLOW and to be the beacon of light that you were born to BE. As we allow ourselves the gift of owning our GLOW we inspire others to step into their own GLOW. Your GLOW is authentic to you, and as we all let our GLOW shine, we have the capability to collectively bring to the world what is so desperately wanted and needed.

Connection, compassion and the vulnerability to take a stand for who we are and what matters in our lives. Your willingness to GLOW has the power to transform all of humanity, causing a ripple effect of possibilities that are beyond your wildest dreams.

What are you waiting for? Life doesn’t happen to you, it happens because of you.

Be sure to include #RiseandGLOW when you share any blog on any social media.

Get Busy to Eliminate Your Fear

Fear is the emotion that often keeps us from taking action, making changes and clearing up situations in our life and business. Fear comes from not knowing if the action we want to take is the right action or the one that will work. We also are not sure if taking this action will result in some loss. We could lose some money, some aspect of our reputation, some self confidence. These concerns, while possible, are not always probable—we will not know the truth until we take the action.

Are you afraid to ask a potential client to work with you for fear she will reject you by saying no? Are you afraid to ask a vendor you do a lot of business with for a discount for fear they will get upset? Are you afraid to give a speech, or record a Facebook Live, for fear of what other people might think?

All feelings are valid, and they are only feelings. Feel the fear, and take action anyway. Every time we do not take action because of fear, we diminish our personal power because the desire to take action continues to gnaw at us. What have you not been doing because of the emotions that accompany it? What would it serve you to do it anyway?

You have massive value to bring. The more you take action, the more you get to share your massive value and the less that will be scary, then pretty soon you will do it all with ease. What is it time to take action on?

15 Minutes — The Difference Between Organized and Overwhelm

I believe we can all agree that time is one of our most precious commodities. Some talk about wasting time or managing time. I like to look at
it as how do we get to create the best time for us. For what is wasting time to some may be the perfect experience of time for others. That’s where priorities come in.

Turn Your Thinking into Action for a Brighter Future

Think about this scenario: Would you sit on your couch sipping a cup of tea and eating a shortbread cookie while your house burned around you? No, you would run out into the street as fast as you could, and you would not stop to think about it. Your purpose and intention would be clear; you would not care what you looked like, what you left behind, or which door led you to safety.

With many situations in business, we take too much time considering all the options and “getting ready to get ready” before we get busy with the action we need to take to make things happen. Reflection, contemplation, and planning are important—very important—and yet they are useless if not followed by action. Action is the power tool that builds hope and desires into reality. Don’t get stuck in the quick-drying cement thinking phase; get into action.

Recognize that it is action that gives you evidence that something is right for you. Make sure you are chipping away at your action items, checking tasks off your list of things to do, and consistently taking steps toward your desires. Build your dream business one brick at a time, one day at a time—with actions, not only with thoughts. Make action a priority and watch your brighter future emerge.

Embrace Happiness to Brighten Your Future in 2017

Did you ever take a class about “Happiness?” I wish it had been offered in my high school or the college I attended.

In 2011, someone I knew and cared about killed herself and it was a shock to me. I realized how unhappy she had been. Because I knew I never wanted that to be me, I began to focus more on my happiness. I brought a happiness coach into my life and took classes to learn that happiness is a choice. It is. We can choose to be happy or not. I began to offer classes to my team to share happiness with them too. Some of them told me that it made a profound difference in their lives at work and at home.

Create Change with Vision and Action

Any meaningful change requires both a compelling vision and a plan of action.

To create a future that makes you excited and proud, you first must get specificaboutwhat you want your life to look and feel like. Once you can vividly feel your vision, you can get to work on transforming that vision into reality. This requires an action plan that sets you up to win and anticipates the challenges that might arise.

When these challenges appear, most people tend to use willpower to keep their vision alive. With New Year’s resolutions, for example, it’s common to hear things like “No pain, no gain” or “I can DO this.” Unfortunately, our willpower is destined to fail over time. As humans, we are wired to avoid pain. This means our resolution eventually fails, and our vision doesn’t materialize.

Instead, focus on changing your environmentand setting yourself up to win. Your environment impacts everything.

If you’re trying to lose weight, would you put cupcakes on the counter, and stare at them all day saying, “I’m not going to eat those,” OR would you not bring cupcakes into your house at all?

If you are looking to reduce clutter in your life and create more peace, calmness and happiness, change also begins with your environment.

Why not immediately remove the “stuff” that is cluttering up your life and blocking your vision? Is junk mail piling up? Try placing a recycling bin right where you enter your home. Immediately throw out any mail that you don’t need. Cabinets overflowing? Reduce the number of place settings in your kitchen cabinets from 16 to 8.

Get rid of these “cupcakes” from your environment and you’ll have a better chance at turning your vision of your dream home and life into a reality.
