Peri Gabriel is our Thriving Woman of the Week

Peri Gabriel has been self-employed for over two decades. Her newest venture is her wine and painting studio, Pinot’s Palette Alameda. She is married to her best friend, Sean, and has two daughters and a seven-year-old granddaughter. She’s a 5th generation native Californian.

How long have you been in business? I have been an entrepreneur since 1996 when I started my book design company, Knockout Design. After 19 years of designing books, my husband, Sean, and I embarked on a new adventure as owners of a paint and wine studio. The studio opened in South Shore Center, Alameda in August 2015.

What is your mission for your business? To bring art to the masses, in a fun and upscale environment with exceptional customer service. We Paint, Drink and Have Fun!

If there was one thing you wish you knew before you began your business, what would that be? How difficult it is to find and keep good employees even when paying a good wage.

What is a guiding principle that you use in your business?  Put yourself in the other person’s shoes. Whether it is a guest, employee or just someone I meet, I try to see things from their point of view.

What makes you a thriving woman in business? Working smarter instead of harder. It is a constant struggle to maintain balance in life, but so very important. One of the guiding principles I attempt to put into practical use daily.

What do you love about being a thriving woman in business? I do love being the creator of my own destiny. This can be a very scary thing. I truly cannot remember what it is like to work FOR someone else as an employee, as it has been too many years. Being your own boss is not cut out for everyone. It takes a lot of drive, devotion, discipline, and a very large leap of faith in yourself. I especially love meeting other women who have put themselves out there and taken that leap.

What is the next big thing or dream for you in your business? To do less day to day operations and more interaction with community. We want to expand the business to larger off-site events for both fundraising as well as corporate events of 50+. While also increasing our daytime use of the studio for team buildings.

Rayna Lumbard is our Thriving Woman of the Week!

Rayna Lumbard HeadshotHow long have you been in business?  I started my marriage & family, psychotherapy, hypnotherapy, energy/sound healing, and life/business coaching business in 1987.

Why did you begin your business?  I had many life challenges growing up. After being a dental hygienist for two years, I felt compelled to follow my heart to become a marriage and family therapist. I enjoy supporting individuals, couples, and families to be happier, healthier, wealthier, and more fulfilled. I am on purpose clearing emotional blocks and helping my clients heal negative thoughts and physical imbalances by accessing their spiritual guidance. True fulfillment, happiness, health, and wealth comes from living in alignment with your life purpose, interests, gifts, talents, and passions.

What is your mission for your business?  My mission is to serve by empowering your divine life purpose, supporting you to make good decisions and take the right actions to reach your personal and business goals and dreams. I love sharing my positive, lighthearted playful energy, a winning strategy for success. I help you accept your disowned parts and release deep feelings to consciously and powerfully activate your intuition, your InnerSuccess, a valuable tool for successful living.

If there was one thing you wish you knew before you began your business, what would that be? I wish I had more training on how to run a successful, profitable business before I was licensed. To experience success I continued implementing courses on business finances, working with insurance companies, and networking with other health practitioners and professionals.

What is a guiding principle that you use in your business? Two of my guiding principles are being accountable and generous. I keep my word, show up on time and am at my best for each client and engagement to deliver inspiration, enthusiasm and transformation. I am generous and good-hearted, which is very fulfilling. I then attract situations and opportunities that create more abundance and good will. Paying it forward really works!

What makes you a thriving woman in business? To stay balanced, I continually enhance my business and take care of myself at the same time. I am mastering moving beyond surviving to experience thriving, which is both a mindset and a way of life. Thriving means more than having an abundance of money. Thriving is having true life wealth, going for your dreams, allowing time for fun and feeling grateful while going through challenges. I’m happiest when I come from love to create loving relationships, friendships, a fulfilling career, and good health.

What do you love about being a thriving woman in business? I love being a Thriving Woman in Business, part of a community of like-minded, creative women committed to being of service to others. How long have you been in business?  I’ve been in sales for four decades total, 26 years self-employed and I began my speaking career three years ago.

Why did you begin your business? As a Master Gardener, we have to find our own way to give back. When I discovered Adaptive Gardening, I knew this was an important subject I could get passionate about sharing and ripe to begin conducting public seminars.

What is your mission for your business?  To enable gardeners of all ages to: 1. change and adapt their gardens, 2. find new ways to garden in comfort and 3. adapt or replace their garden tools, so they can garden for life, with joy and without pain.

If there was one thing you wish you knew before you began your business, what would that be? How to methodize and monetize my business besides my two seminars. I am now exploring consulting opportunities and garden parties.

What is a guiding principle that you use in your business? Whether we’re talking about gardening or life, if we approach it with ease, comfort and joy, that’s what it’s all about.

What makes you a thriving woman in business? Caterina offered me a great tagline: “Thriving At Any Age” and I love it.

What do you love about being a thriving woman in business? The networking. Every one brings something different to the table and it’s fun exploring options and possibilities with other sharp entrepreneurial women.

What is the next big thing or dream for you in your business? I am contemplating that a lot these days. I have two questions I ask when I am meditating: “How can I best serve?” and “What is the most benevolent outcome?”

Susan Rueppel is our Thriving Woman of the Week!

susan-rueppel_photo_small_01How long have you been in business?  20 years

Why did you begin your business? I was passionate about helping women engage their intuition in their daily life to gain valuable insights to be happier and healthier.  My business evolved into helping women entrepreneurs realize (know and manifest) their highest potential and have their work in the world be in complete alignment with their purpose and passion.  By providing them with clear strategy and inspired action steps, they move forward with certainty, confidence and courage, so they can serve more people, make more money and have more fun doing it.

I’m also about teaching my clients how to activate their own intuition intentionally in business (so it’s not just rare and random) and employ it as a practical, purposeful, and powerful business resource.

More recently, I’ve integrated my Personality Power work (www.PersonalityDynamics.com) with my WINtuition work, as they both support realizing our highest potential and living our Unique Genius, where everything is easier and more fun.  Who wouldn’t want that?

What is your mission for your business?  Inspiring, energizing and supporting women entrepreneurs in realizing (knowing, being and doing) their highest potential.

If there was one thing you wish you knew before you began your business, what would that be? A deeper understanding of business finances.  I knew the basics (I’d managed million dollar budgets in the corporate world), but only part of that transfers over to running your own business. Hiring an external CFO (Chief Financial Officer) and making friends with my numbers was a major factor in becoming more profitable.

What is a guiding principle that you use in your business? It’s important to use all the resources at our disposal to create businesses where we can express our purpose and passions, serve many people, and create abundant income. It’s time we recognize and activate our innate human potential of intuition and personality power, and apply them to business in intentional and focused ways to see our path clearly, and more easily turn possibilities into reality.

What makes you a thriving woman in business? I’m making a great living doing what I love, working only 4 days a week, enriching women’s businesses and lives.

What do you love about being a thriving woman in business? I am living and loving my purpose.

What is the next big thing or dream for you in your business? I’m helping Compassionate Capitol Region (CCR) develop a training program for Ambassadors who will help bring more compassion and compassionate communication to our Sacramento region.  As part of that l will be teaching the power of Personality Dynamics (www.PersonalityDynamics.com) and its enormous influence on who we are and how we communicate, which leads to more rewarding connections, acceptance of others, and ultimately, a more collaborative and healthy community – and compassionate action that will illuminate our community’s future.

How long have you been in business?  I started Feminine Power Flow over a year ago.

Why did you begin your business?  I started Feminine Power Flow after reflecting back on my career.  I had climbed the corporate ladder, launched my own company Chef-K, culinary health education for kids, and then started as a business consultant with small to medium-sized businesses.  I realized that you could train people, put systems in place to help them grow their career or business, but if they didn’t fundamentally change their inner game they would not sustain their growth.  I realized I had developed some tools for myself that I could support other entrepreneurs and professionals, especially women.

What is your mission for your business?  To support women entrepreneurs who want to follow their heart to make their life and community better. They are successful and long for something deeper and fulfilling. I want to support them to live and become their authentic self to live their dream life.

If there was one thing you wish you knew before you began your business, what would that be?  Honestly, I wish I knew how important it is to bring my gift to others.  It’s not about sales, and worrying about what others think that I am “pushing”.  That was my ego, it’s not about me, it’s about supporting others’ dreams.  It it’s a match, it’s great and if not how can I support in another way?

What makes you a thriving woman in business?  Keep it simple.  Start one step at a time; focus, make one thing work, then build on it.  As you start one step, it’s ok to be moving along the strategic piece.  Lay a foundation.  I see so many women trying to do everything at once then there’s no income, and they want to fall back to a JOB.  That’s not the answer.  You have gifts to give and there are people waiting for them.

What is the next big thing or dream for you in your business?   I’m looking forward to growing and building a team.  I love working with a team.  I’ve also added to my program Dream Business Bundle and created the “Dream Business Bundle Ultimate”  There’s a lot more time for VIP strategy sessions to support my clients to envision a business fully integrated with their dream life.  If you don’t integrate it at that level, it can be a struggle.  Make sure to envision all the pieces.  Women have such a wide range to access.

Nancy Karas
is our Thriving Woman of the Week!

Nancy Karas Headshot 3x4

How long have you been in business?  I started my business 22 years ago.

Why did you begin your business?  I had a huge career in Corporate America as the SVP of HR. I worked with so many people who were unhappy and completely dissatisfied with their careers and their lives. I wanted to provide people with the insider knowledge and the confidence they need to succeed and find the happiness they deserve.

What is your mission for your business?  My mission is to help people make their dreams a reality and to live truly successful and happy lives. I help my clients make huge transitions to obtain their career dreams, make their personal dreams come true and achieve their goals.

If there was one thing you wish you knew before you began your business, what would that be?  I wish I knew that fear is a liar. Everything I want is on the other side of fear. I also wish I had known that it was okay to hire people who are expert in things I am not, to do some of the work for me. You have to invest in yourself to succeed.

What is a guiding principle that you use in your business?  Take back your power and raise the bar. We tend to give our power away to others. We assume others have more than we do (older, younger, smarter, prettier, taller, luckier, wealthier) and so we must be inferior. I teach my clients to take back their power, know their worth, be comfortable with who they are and create the success and happiness they deserve.

What makes you a thriving woman in business?  I’m always willing to test and create new revenue streams for my business. I strive to remain current, relevant and highly adaptable. I reinvent my business yearly by adjusting my sails to navigate the changing needs of my clients and our society.

What do you love about being a thriving woman in business?  I absolutely love being my own boss and creating my own schedule.  I love that my work is a balance of barefoot in the backyard to all dressed up and speaking at corporate meetings and speaking engagements. I love realizing that the more I am my authentic self the more successful I am in my business. Most of all, I love that I can help so many people to live happy and successful lives and know that I will have helped to make the world a better place. Helping women to realize and find their own version of happiness and success is the best currency I could ever receive.

What is the next big thing or dream for you in your business?  I have been invited to be a guest Career expert for KTLA-TV. I love helping people on such a grand scale as so many more people can get the help they need at one time. My next big thing is to make this a long-term role on TV.

How long have you been in business?audrey-fontaine-white-background-high_res_print
I have been a Holistic Health Counselor since 2010, however have been studying health and nutrition for 36 years. My food preparation workshops have been occurring on a regular (now monthly) basis for 5 years.

Why did you begin your business?
It is through my own need for healing that I have gained the knowledge and experience to help others on their path. My personal struggles with digestive disease and multiple food sensitivities since childhood led me to try different approaches to find what would work best for me. In doing so, I have achieved a level of health that I could not have imagined for myself years ago.

What is your mission for your business?
It is my sincere desire to help women regain a more youthful, comfortable feeling in their bodies, and achieve a level of health and fitness that will lead to a happier, more fulfilling life!

If there was one thing you wish you knew before you began your business, what would that be?
I wish I had known better how to most effectively find the clients who would resonate with my approach. Instead of being open to serving everyone, I now find it much more fulfilling to have a focus on my niche market.

What is a guiding principle that you use in your business?
As a holistic health and nutrition practitioner I follow the Hippocratic oath, “First do no harm”, along with his principle “Let food be thy medicine and medicine be thy food”.

What makes you a thriving woman in business?
I truly care about each woman that seeks out my services, offering them the best of my knowledge to help them on their path towards optimal health and their ideal weight. My counseling and teaching style is non-judgmental, patient, compassionate and understanding, while at the same time being focused, detail oriented and goal driven.

What do you love about being a thriving woman in business?
I love that I am able to create my business around my passions, and to continuously upgrade the services I offer to meet the needs and desires of my tribe.

What is the next big thing or dream for you in your business?
Beginning in October I will offer a “Third Tuesday Lunch & Learn” session monthly from 11-1, where we will create a raw, vegan and gluten free meal, including an appetizer or salad, entree and dessert. We will work hands-on as a group, then share our meal while discussing health and nutrition.

How can our readers connect with you?
You may contact me at (831)521-8864 or audrey@audreyfontaine.com, and learn more about my approach at www.audreyfontaine.net. I am happy to offer a complimentary one-hour consultation to review your health history and help you establish personalized goals. My counseling sessions are available in person (in the Sonoma County, CA area), over the telephone or via Skype or Google Chat.
