Are You Flourishing?

Are You Flourishing?

Last Saturday, I held a “Live In-person Mini-retreat” for some of my Flourishing 50s members in the L.A. area. It was an extra special time because I don’t get to see them face-to-face very often. As a virtual coach, all my services are conducted over the phone or online, which is great because I get to work with women all over the country, but I don’t get to “see” them. So, I considered this a very special time with some clients who were within driving distance.

We had a great time. There was a ton of sharing and discussing and I led the ladies through a few exercises. One in particular was to rate themselves (Poor, Okay, Good, and Flourishing) on 15 aspects of Flourishing.

Here were the 15 so you can do the same for yourself:

Physical Health – How is your Sleep, Food, Mood, and Exercise (as a whole)?

Time freedom – Do you have time on a regular basis to do whatever you want?

Balance – Do you have a balance of giving and receiving in your life?

Financial health – Do you have enough money for everything you need and want?

Work environment – How is your work culture?

Home (physical space) – How does your home look and feel to you?

Inner/Spiritual self – How is the quality of your inner/spiritual practice?

Fun/Adventure – Are you having fun and experiencing adventure in your life?

Primary family relationships – How are your relationships with those closest to you (i.e. spouse, parents, children, etc.)?

Social/Circle of Genius – How is the quality of your social circle (i.e. friends, mentors, coaches, colleagues, etc.)?

Relaxation/Rejuvenation/Recovery – Are you making enough time for relaxation, rejuvenation, and recovery?

Flow – Are you “losing yourself” (in a good way) in something you enjoy (i.e. hobby, skill, creative interest, etc.)?

Personal development – Are you regularly working on your inner self (i.e. reading, journaling, “Blue Sky” time)?

Professional development – Are you continually improving your professional skills (i.e. reading, learning, various skills applicable to your work, growing your network)?

Purpose/Meaning/Accomplishment – Are you moving toward something bigger than yourself?

Then, I gave them two circles. The first circle was “Where I am today” and the second circle was “Where I want to be”. I gave them some colored pencils and they made a pie chart based on the results above. This exercise gave them a visual of the “gap” between where they are today and where they want to be.

My role as a coach in my members and clients lives is to close that gap so that they can live healthy and happy lives that are in alignment with their values.

I encourage you today to also do this exercise. Rate yourself in each of those areas of Flourishing and then draw two circles that represent where you are now and where you want to be. Use different colors that represent the areas that are in the Poor, Okay, Good, and Flourishing categories.

What is the size of the “gap” between where you are now and where you want to be?

I want to also add that perhaps you’re hesitant to do this exercise because you’re afraid that your “gap” might be overwhelmingly big. If so, I want to encourage you to do it anyway because if you do, then you can do something about it. So, if you really want to live a Flourishing life as a woman entrepreneur, you’ll do this exercise. It’s sort of like going to the doctor and getting a blood test. We put it off because we may get results we don’t want to know, but as cliché as it is, I’m going to say it – “Knowledge is power”.

If you truly want to live your healthiest and most fulfilling life as a woman entrepreneur, don’t put it off any longer. This exercise is simply information. After that, you can CHOOSE to do something about it or not, but at least you know. In fact, if you do put it off (like blood work), it’s not like you’ll never find out the results – oh you will at some point – whether it be through illness or something else. The same is true for examining your life. Your fifties are the BEST time to do this examination and I do hope you choose to do it.

Feel free to email me personally and let me know your results. Don’t worry if you’re not proud of them. Think of me like your doctor. I do this day in and day out. There’s rarely anything I haven’t seen before. Let’s just say you won’t shock me, but by sending me your results, it tells me that you’re serious about your life and well-being and you know what? That’s encouraging to me to know that this exercise helped bring some awareness to you. So please, share with me your results:

Choose Bliss: The new paradigm in Business.

Choose Bliss: New Book Proves a Life of Enduring Joy & Contentment *IS* Possible. It’s a Paradigm Changer Critics Hail “Authentic & Powerful”

Masterfully crafted from the life, experiences and wisdom of Moneeka Sawyer, ‘Choose Bliss: The Power and Practice of Joy and Contentment’ empowers readers to embrace the fact that bliss isn’t circumstantial, but is rather a constant state of being that anyone can thrive in. Through both deeply-personal vignettes and a host of practical exercises, Sawyer walks readers through learning how to never settle for “just good enough” and how creating true power and prosperity can be as easy as a few simple mindset shifts…

Mountain View, CA – Those who know Moneeka Sawyer often regard her as one of the happiest, most joyous and positive people they’ve ever met. It’s far from a front; Sawyer is truly blissful at all times and feels totally in control of every decision she makes.

It’s a unique yet totally transformative state of mind underpinned by a series of foundational “bliss practices” that anyone can deploy. In her new book, Sawyer explains how you too can be as happy and content as she is.

‘Choose Bliss: The Power and Practice of Joy and Contentment’ will leave readers reveling in their new life steeped with opportunity, positivity and bliss that goes far and beyond being a buzzword. It’s a book about the power to choose, and how these choices can easily create a reality more blissful than anyone believed possible.

Book Synopsis:

This book is about your power to choose. It is a paradigm changer that will transform your view of your life, the world around you, and what is truly possible. Filled with thought-provoking concepts, it will teach you simple bliss practices you can implement immediately and short exercises to integrate bliss into your life forever. The tools in this book have proven successful time and time again. So, from this day forward, you don’t have to settle for good enough.

“The issue is that most people fall into a state of complacency, creating a vicious circle where they live robotically and become frustrated when they’re seldom happy,” explains Sawyer. “My book and my entire philosophy will amplify anyone’s inner light and rekindle the love in their heart. After all, don’t we all deserve to live surrounded by bliss? Feeling happy, strong and free is so empowering that it’s almost hard to put into words. This book will help anyone identify the mental, physical and spiritual adversity that’s holding them back and then inspire them to emerge victorious into a life they have only ever dreamed of.”

Continuing, “I want people to remember that they have a choice about every single thought, movement and action they make in life. When you understand how to make each of these decisions with a continuing life of bliss as the goal, amazing things begin to happen. Just ask the people I’ve helped who have proven first-hand that my methods are rock-solid and proven.”

Since its release, the book has garnered a consistent string of five-star reviews. For example, H. Blanchard comments, “I’ve read a lot of self-help books and this one feels different – more authentic – because Moneeka shares her own life journey and how she overcame problems in a way that I could relate to. The main thing I will take away is that changes are not linear and you don’t have to take action A, then B, then C etc. you can have bliss now even though you haven’t worked your way through to Z yet. I also found that as I read she left cues for the forthcoming chapters that my subconscious started working on so that when I got to the chapter on that subject e.g. Gratitude, I had already started working it into my daily routine naturally.”

James R. Cichoracki adds, “Moneeka’s insights and her compelling stories (from her challenging childhood where she was relentlessly bullied to her hard choice a few years ago to not become a mother) demonstrate how deeply devoted she is to the amazing principles of choosing bliss no matter what her circumstances. I found myself underlining and making notes of things I want to incorporate into my life to live the joy-filled life that Moneeka clearly embodies every day. This book is full of gems!”

The Do’s and Don’ts of Facebook Groups

Facebook groupsAccording to digital marketer Zephoria, there are 1.65 billion active monthly Facebook users worldwide, a 15% increase year over year.

To put this in perspective: The world’s population is 7.4 billion people, so if you take out the fake accounts and babies who are too young to have one, approximately 1 in 5 people is on Facebook. Continue reading “The Do’s and Don’ts of Facebook Groups”

Email marketing is still considered the most effective way to reach your ideal

If it’s done right.

Sadly, many are not doing it correctly and are not reaping the benefits it could bring for their businesses.

Here are my top six tips for making email marketing work for YOU:

Know what you’re trying to accomplish and choose the email marketing provider that can meet those needs. The “big three” of service providers in terms of being the most well known are: MailChimp, Constant Contact, and Infusionsoft, but out of curiosity, I googled “best email marketing providers” and got a completely different list:

Best email marketing for small businesses overall: Benchmark

YOU Don’t Have to Be the Best to Get the Best Results

YOU Don’t Have to Be the Best to Get the Best Results

There are times when you will volunteer or someone will assign you with the responsibility to deliver a result and you have very little to no experience.  Either you are a risk-takerIMG_1498
or the person who selects you knows you are capable of delivering.  Particularly in the latter situation, you may feel otherwise and lack of confidence in your ability.  The good news is you do not have to be the best to get the best results.

5 Ways Women Can Help Each Other

5 Ways Women Can Help Each Other

Special Place for Women

Thriving women are making great strides in every field, but I think the most exciting ones are in sports and politics.

When the Buffalo Bills announced it was hiring Kathryn Smith as quality control-special teams coach, she became the first woman to be named to a full time coaching position in NFL history.

The presidential campaign includes two women candidates, Carly Fiorina and Hillary Clinton. Regardless of your political affiliation, it’s exciting that two women are running for the highest elected office in the United States, and one might win.

Although women still have a ways to go in terms of income equality, we are the most powerful consumers in the world and our impact is growing every year.

That’s why it’s so important that we help eachother to be the best that we can be.

My PR business, Studio 4 PR, works with entrepreneurs and small business owners, but my passion is working with women. Why? Because I think we get what we give.

Here are 5 ways that we can (and should) do our part:

  1. Mentor other women – Whether it’s mentoring young women via an organization like Girls Rule Foundation or providing coaching services to women in business, your expertise in leadership, empowerment, or self esteem could be the catalyst that helps spark the next generation of leaders.
  2. Refer other women – Word of mouth is one of the most (if not the most) powerful forms of marketing, so when someone asks for a recommendation, always try and refer a women first.
  3. Buy from other women – When you are in the market for a product or service, think of a woman first. According to, women drive 70-80% of all consumer purchasing, through a combination of their buying power and influence. So, by helping other women, we are helping ourselves.
  4. Learn from other women – As women, we experience many of the same challenges, from fears that stand in our way to well meaning (or maybe not) people who stand in our way. Whether you take a workshop, hire a coach, or just find someone you admire and ask them to support you, don’t miss out on the opportunity to learn from someone who’s already been there.
  5. Inspire other women – We all have stories. Of defeat, of despair, of failure. We’ve all stood at the bottom of a giant mountain and thought there is just no way we’re going to make it to the top. Ever. But, those of us who have persevered, and not only made it to the top, but done it while pushing a giant boulder, have a responsibility, I believe, to share what we know with other women. We need to grab them by the hand and say “Yes, you can!” We need to make our mess our message. We need to be willing to stand in our vulnerability and use it to help someone else make the climb.

What do you think? Share your stories with me in the comments below. I’d love to be able to support and encourage you.

Thank you for sharing this space with me!

Business Or A Job?

Ask yourself What is your Why, Entrepreneurs,I use to always hear my coach talk about working “on” your business rather than “in” your business.

It would honestly, be two years before I would realized that, my “business”, was really my new job and begin to take steps to build a business.

I was fired in September of 2011.

I had complained to the universe to such a degree that, my complaints were honored. No longer could I say, ‘I’ll be glad when I can write my book” or ‘I’ll be glad when I can start my business.” Continue reading “Business Or A Job?”
