Women: Build Your Influence Power, Part 3

This is a four part series, if you missed part one of this article series click here, for  part two of this article series click here.

When you are busy working your business sometimes it can be impossible to meet and get to know the people you want to cultivate influence with. You can overcome this challenge by consciously implementing your get people together influence building plan. Here are a few of my favorites that are fun and work every time:

Host personal events.
Many influential people hold an annual backyard barbeque, a holiday event or put together a group to participate in a walkathon followed by a party. Note that I say annual event. Consistency over time is what creates results. One event is good, a consistent strategy of hosting events is far better.

Host online business/professional events.
A few years ago I developed an online business development training for life coaches. In order to get “in front” of as many life coaches as possible I started to host free information packed free tele-classes. This brought me clients from four continents that I have never met and built my reputation in that industry as a business building expert. This is an easy way to cultivate influence with people outside of your geographic area. Hosting teleclasses or webinars or Google Hangouts are all equally effective.

Host offline business/professional events.
There is nothing better then inviting people in your field and potential clients to your own events. This could be an evening workshop of a reception to celebrate the release of your new book or even an anniversary reception or open house. Any reason to invite people to be with you at an event you are hosting is a great idea because in most cases you have more influence with people after you have met them live and in person.

Start your own large or small association or group.
When you are the founder and leader of a group you do receive some “insta-influence.” If you want to be a part of a group of professionals that learn about building wealth—start one. If you want to get to know other people that are in the same industry as you in your city—start a group. Start a mastermind group, start a group of people that raise money for a charity cause that you care about. This is a great way to expand your network and meet a lot of like minded people.

Start a Facebook or LinkedIn Group
One of my clients said it best today when she said that starting an online group is like giving yourself a soapbox. That is true. You decide what you want the group to be about, you decide the criteria for who you want in the group and you share your ideas and meet new people and build your influence.

I have started two groups on Facebook, the Get Booked For Speaking Challenge with Caterina https://www.facebook.com/groups/GetBookedForSpeaking/
and The Thriving Women in Business Group
https://www.facebook.com/groups/ThrivingBusinessGroupforWomen/
I have really enjoyed al the people I have met in these groups. Having your own online groups is a great way to build your influence.

Get people together and watch your influence soar. Come back next week on more about building your influence.
