How long have you been in business?
I began in December 2002 as a home based business, but opened my office and changed my business name in September 2005.
Why did you begin your business?
My Mom’s manicurist kept asking me to help her with her husband’s business. She hated reconciling accounts and asked me for months to help before I finally agreed to start my own business (at the time I was the full-charge bookkeeper for a publishing company).
What is your mission for your business?
Energize overwhelmed business owners by removing the burden of bookkeeping and payroll processes, and as a result of using our services, they have peace of mind and the freedom to do the parts of the business they love.
If there was one thing you wish you knew before you began your business,
what would that be? Set boundaries regarding when work is due, when payment is expected, and how to price services appropriately. If someone doesn’t want to work within your boundaries, they aren’t the best fit for my business.
What is a guiding principle that you use in your business?
Integrity in all aspects of business.
What makes you a thriving woman in business?
I started a business from nothing and now have a team of five employees and two freelance workers.
What do you love about being a thriving woman in business?
I love making a difference in people’s lives. I give peace of mind by handling aspects that most entrepreneurs don’t like and/or don’t have time to do. By offloading these tasks, they have the freedom to the do parts of the business they love.
What is the next big thing or dream for you in your business?
I’d like to grow my speaking business to educate entrepreneurs on topics related to my business to help them avoid penalties for non-compliance. Also to encourage others to become entrepreneurs and teach them what I’ve learned in the process.
