Meet Shanna McFarlane, Leading Business Coach and Success Mentor
How and why did you start your business?
While I was building a multi-million dollar Real Estate Investing business and started a chain of Beauty Supply stores. During this time and for most of my life, It seem I spent more and more time giving business advice on how to start and build profitable and successful businesses. As such my entrepreneur coaching/mentorship and consulting business was born.
I started my business to create independence and real freedom for myself. At first it really was about ‘paying the bills’ and getting by.
I soon realized that my business served as a guide to others, providing them the strategic steps to entrepreneurship – so they too can create successful businesses for themselves.
In a nutshell – my life story inspires hope in individuals and my business tool empowers success!
What has been your biggest challenge and how did you overcome it
My biggest challenge starting out was listening to the masses. I had all these ideas about starting a business. Most people around me didn’t understand, I was so passionate when I spoke about entrepreneurship, it was almost contagious. Yet, even though I had all these great ideas, I was still listening to the people around me and the ‘little voice’ in my head that kept saying “you don’t know what you’re doing, so stick with the day job!”
To overcome this the first thing I did was change the people I was spending time with.
2nd, I stopped seeking approval from family and friends before I implemented something. Once I did my research and my intuition said go – I made a run for it.
As entrepreneurs, you need to be aware that you’ll never get it right 100% of the time, but it’s sure worth a try. However if you wait on other people’s approval you’ll never get started.
How do you define SUCCESS?
My definition of success is being able to change, improve and transform lives.
I do this through sharing my story and the work that I do with entrepreneurs.
If there was one thing you wish you knew before you began, what would that be?
The importance of Marketing – you could have the best product or service, however if people don’t known about it – you will not survive as a business.
What makes you an innovative woman?
I have gone from homeless at the age of 16 when my father and stepmom decided I didn’t fit into their new family & they didn’t want me – With no direction, no one to help and a very dim future, I had to become innovative in order to survive.
By the time I was 31 I had built a multi-million dollar real estate business and several other business, an author and became a recognized international leader. – With no business degree and no business experience – just a dream, an aspiration to succeed, a passion for entrepreneurship & a desire for financial freedom.
This makes me an INNOVATIVE Woman….
