How would you like to attract people to your events on Twitter? Perfect! Here are a few ideas that you can use and reuse again for later events, too. You want to create excitement around the event. Twitter is fantastic because it can make you, as a solopreneur, look very VIP.
Create Your Hashtag Before the Event
A hashtag is a word or phrase with the pound sign (#) before it; it helps to organize your tweets. Think of a word or phrase that is descriptive. For instance, #SAS2014 is a hashtag I used for my Sought After Speaker Summit. The hashtag should not be too long because it cuts into the 140-character limit of a tweet. Search for your hashtag on Twitter to ensure that it’s not being used by someone outside your wheelhouse.
Promote Your Event
After you have chosen your hashtag, use it to promote your event. Tell people why they would enjoy the event. You may want to promote to specific individuals that you already know who might like your event—do not send spammy messages to strangers, however.
Include An Image
Tweets that include images get retweeted many more times than tweets without images, so find an appropriate image. A photo of yourself speaking is a good choice.
Ask for a Retweet
At the end of your tweet, say “Please Retweet.” Often, people would like to help, but they don’t know what to do. Give them a hand by telling them which of your tweets is important to you!
During Your Event
Delegate someone to live tweet at your event. Encourage your participants to live tweet. Share the hashtag, and your handle.
Follow these ideas and you will find that you are gaining followers, creating more visibility for your event and hopefully even gaining some new clients.
