Circle of Influence – How Big Is Your Sales Team?

When we create a circle of influence, it allows us to focus on the things in our lives that we can change rather than those we have no control over. This is especially important when it comes to our businesses and those who we work with on a day to day basis. When we apply our focus on what we are trying to accomplish, which is generally making more sales, we can then recognize areas where improvement may be necessary.

Placing your time and energy in the circle of influence will not only lead to a more productive business life, but also a more enjoyable life overall. This can be attributed to the fact that you are not wasting energy worrying about problems that are out of your control. Rather, you are focusing all of your efforts on things that you can actually influence. What this means for business is that you are now focusing all of your attention and efforts on creating a sales team that will get the job done.

Focusing your attention and energy on your own circle of influence will also help you grow it. Look closely at your sales team, notice who is performing well and who may be struggling. These are areas in which you can have an impact. When you see someone struggling to close a deal or find reputable leads, take the time to acknowledge their problems and formulate a solution together. This will lead to a much more productive and effective outcomes.

If you notice that there are other areas of your business that may be experiencing problems, you should not focus all of your attention on those areas. You should only focus on the area that you can control and do what you need to in order to ensure that your circle of influence continues to grow rather than shrink. As you continue to put this theory to work, you will begin to notice that there may be members of your sales team that do not fit in as well as others. You may want to explore where their true interests lie and find a way to place them in a position where they may be more effective. It’s not about the size of your circle or the number or people in it, it’s about creating an effective circle that will be successful.
