How to Stop Self Sabotaging Yourself

Step It UpIt can be hard to admit, but when you’re trying to create a healthier and more fit lifestyle for yourself, you can be your own biggest enemy. Whether you are making excuses for yourself, procrastinating, or truly not valuing yourself, you are getting in the way of yourself not getting to those healthy goals you have set for yourself.

Here are some tips for each situation that can help you get out of those habits.

Making Excuses. Do you make excuses for yourself or blame your schedule, job, relationships, or other commitments for not leaving you any time to work out or grocery shop for healthy foods?

  • Re-assess which lifestyle choices you make and how they may or may not repeatedly sabotage your healthy efforts. Make sure you you aren’t constantly over-committed and learn to say NO sometimes.
Procrastinating. Do you tend to put off going to the gym or going grocery shopping so you can do other things first?
  • Take care of yourself first and do other things later. This must be a priority in order to improve your strength, health, and any other fitness goals you have. Instead of procrastinating your workout, Step It UP and get moving now. The more you train yourself to get out of the procrastinating mindset, the easier it will be to never fall into procrastination in the first place.
Not Valuing Yourself. If you value something, you do whatever you need to do to take care of it, right? If you aren’t taking care of your body, you aren’t valuing it. You owe it to yourself to take care of your body and keep it in tip top order.
  • Start taking little actions everyday that will help you start to believe how valuable you really are and how important it is to take care of yourself. Brush your teeth before you leave the house, spray some perfume, etc. Whatever you do, take the extra second to do something that will make you feel good about yourself.
