How a Little Support Gives You the Wings to Soar

My son is learning how to fly jets. He would not be in the position to learn how to soar in a jet without the support of family, instructors, fellow students, sponsors, the bank who loaned the tuition, etc. The list goes on.

His process got me wondering how many people I know who have Big Hairy Audacious Goals, but struggle with moving the needle forward.

I looked at many of my clients and found that two key pieces keep entrepreneurs from soaring:

  • A support system to free them
  • The ability to turn time into an asset

It’s All About Support

Business support doesn’t just happen. You must actively choose to create it. This little exercise can help you see the value having an assistant can give you.

Figure out the hourly value of your time (annual revenue or income 2080). Then ask yourself if there is value in having someone do the repetitive tasks for you. After all, you are most effective in action, whether it’s building relationships, business or client satisfaction.

Turn Time into Support

We all get bogged down with to do’s and deadlines. Multitasking becomes your tool of choice and locks you into a self-replicating cycle where nothing gets done effectively or efficiently to your satisfaction. It’s difficult to soar when your spirit and energy get tied up in this cycle.

Multitasking is Not Your Friend

Did you know that only 2 percent of the population can actually process multiple thoughts, problems or activities at once? The rest of us quickly switch from one thing to the next and back again. Unfortunately, this process costs you time and productivity.

By focusing on one thing at a time until completion, you turn time into a support tool for yourself. Get support and break free from the weights.
