The Power of A Strong Work Ethic to Catapult Your Business

While on a vacation cruise around the Hawaiian Islands recently, I decided to splurge on a hotel room at the Ritz Carlton for the day–not for an overnight stay, but just for six hours. I wanted to relax at the beautiful private beach with cabanas and an iced beverage, have a room to change in, shower and nap in and enjoy a cup of tea in before heading back to the cruise ship. It was an extravagance the likes of which I cannot recall ever giving myself before.

As I walked down the gorgeous hallway to my room, I experienced in my self a sense of pride, joy and fulfillment that caught my attention. The thought that raced through my head was “I earned this, I have worked hard for this, I deserve this and I deserve to treat myself well.”

When you have a good life and have given it to yourself as a result of your own efforts the rewards are sweeter, the feeling of bliss stays with you longer and each opulent moment is not empty—in fact, it is rich and full and serves as fuel for more production, ideas, more creativity and great results.

Having a strong work ethic that makes you successful is only part of the equation. The other piece of the equation is being able to enjoy that success with a well-earned reward. That deep relaxation in a luxury setting that I could afford to give myself after a job well done allowed me to tap into a rich vein of pure gold. That pure gold is the well of more creativity that allows me to continue. If you never enjoy the fruits of your own hard labor, there is no contrast in life and no rewards reaped. Do maintain a strong work ethic, remember though to give yourself the rewards you have earned, it will be sweet when you do and then you will be about to go back and continue to catapult your business.
