Innovative Woman Lauren Perelmuter

Innovative Woman of the Week, Lauren PerelmuterMeet Lauren Perelmuter, Innovative Woman and Founder of My Awesome ArtBox and Art To Grow On.

1. How/why did you begin your business?
We began selling our art lessons online due to the tremendous need to bring art back into the classrooms, to families who homeschool, families who have children with special needs and even for individual gifts. We believe that giving every child the opportunity to innovate, create and imagine gives them essential life skills needed to thrive in today’s world.

2. What has been your biggest challenge and how did you overcome it?
Our challenge was actually a positive one. Since 2000, we have had a sister company, Art To Grow On Children’s Art Center, Inc. that is a mobile outreach company bringing art enrichment programs and services to the client directly – public and private preschool and elementary schools, city park and recreational services, corporate day care and more….we had been receiving requests to expand outside of Southern California for quite some time…the challenge turned into an opportunity once I saw the need was so high and the packaging and branding was there for the inventing!

3. How do you define SUCCESS?
We educate our students that the process, the art of “discovering”, and finding resolution to creative obstacles are all successes. There are no mistakes in art so self-esteem and self-confidence soars. When we hear “I did it!” or “look what I did!” we know they have had true success.

 4. If there was one thing you wish you knew before you began your business, what would that be?
Do sweat the small stuff. Every detail – from customer service, to lesson plans, to advertising and more, are all extremely important for the overall branding and messages you send.

 5. What makes you an innovative woman?
I am always learning and have always been very curious to figure out how to create something that in the end, makes our lives better and more fulfilled and inspired. I think I have been very lucky to see when to move on an opportunity when it presents itself. I am able to see “gaps” and create programs, classes or products to fill those gaps, or as I like to say, “opportunities!” My AwesomeArtBox and Art To Grow On Inc. would not be able to have such influence and reach if we did not have the most dedicated instructors, advisors, and supporters. I am extremely grateful to all.
