In July, I became an author with the launch of Navigating Entrepreneurship: Secrets to Put You on an Unstoppable Course . I co-wrote it with 10 amazing and talented women: Cathy Alessandra, Bibi Goldstein, Candy Messer, Debbie Saviano, Chris Atley, Pam Russell, Stephanie Otero, Jaime Geffner, Michele Pariza Wacek and Yvonne Larson.
Being in a book with your name on the cover on Amazon is a big deal in and of itself. But, given that the sea is really crowded with tens of thousands of new releases, you have to be able to stand out in order to get noticed.
This post is about what social media can do for you in less than 24 hours.
Create a buying frenzy
The book was scheduled to be live on Amazon at 9 a.m. PST, so we created an email that was scheduled to go to all of our lists at 9 a.m. letting them know the book was available.
We liked, shared, and commented across all social networks.
We asked our social networks to like, share, and comment across all social networks.
We did this over and over again all day long. (NOTE: We did NOT send the exact same posts each time, though.) We posted about how excited we were, we congratulated each other, we invited our friends and families to take advantage the bonuses we all are offering, (You can get them, too, by going here.) we posted updates about where the book was ranked, etc.
Watch the numbers
The sales rank is very important because it lets you (and the world) know if you have a bestseller. When Navigating Entrepreneurship went live, its sales ranking was above 20,000. 12 hours later it was less than 1,100. Even more significant, though, is that the book hit #1 in Hot New Releases and #6 in Women in Business books. I had to pinch myself that the book was in the top 10 with Arianna Huffington’s book, Thrive, and Sheryl Sandberg’s Lean In and that it took less than 24 hours to achieve that status.
If you’d like to learn more about how to navigate the winding road of entrepreneurship but avoid the potholes, check out Navigating Entrepreneurship: Secrets to Put You on an Unstoppable Course and download the bonuses we have for you.
I’d love to hear what you think of the book. Feel free to comment below. Please forward this to everyone you know who will find it of value.
Thanks for sharing this space with me.
