Consider this: On average, it takes seven to nine points of contact before a prospect becomes a customer. It’s like a courtship. Think about how many times you interacted with your spouse or partner before you/they said “yes.”
Customer engagement works the same way. It’s a two-way process that has to be managed in order to be maximized.
Think of it like the game Candy Crush (the most addictive Facebook game out there). The goal is to move the candy so you have three of a kind and clear the board, but since there are limited moves, you have to maximize each one so that they create bigger candies and cause a chain reaction with the surrounding ones.
By maximizing every interaction with your prospects and customers and making them serve more than one purpose, you’ll find and be found by more of your ideal clients faster. Here are 10 tips to help you maximize every move:
- Define the WHO and that will determine the WHAT and WHERE
- Make sure your communication is concept and keyword-focused on your ideal client
- Use social media outlets that your ideal clients and influencers are using
- Spend time getting to know the people you’re engaging with
- Actively participate in strategic partner groups (like on LinkedIn)
- Take a methodical and intentional approach when communicating with your top five key audiences
- Don’t get stuck in the cycle of planning
- Think about what’s right for your prospect, not just what’s right for a sale
- Evaluate why one post is more engaging than another
- Measure before you move forward and then adapt as the needs of your ideal client change
The ultimate goal in this is a sort of customer evangelism, if you will. Get your ideal client to talk about you more than you do.
