Being an entrepreneur is tough. I’ve realized over the last few years that in order to build a successful business, it takes preparation, learning, taking risks, making mistakes, trial and error, a ton of resilience, and the ability to trust the day-to-day process, while keeping your eye on the long-term. Truth is, that’s not for everyone and that’s okay. Similarly, I don’t think thriving health is for everyone either. Don’t get me wrong. I wish thriving health for everyone, but like building a thriving business, building thriving health just isn’t for everyone.
Perhaps if it were easy, more people would do it. Like a healthy and thriving business, a healthy and thriving life is not freely given. Instead, it is earned. It takes work, sacrifice, diligence, and fortitude, to name a few. Earning health that thrives, like earning a business that thrives, also requires preparation, learning, taking risks, making mistakes, trial and error, and the ability to trusting the day-to-day process, while keeping your eye on the long-term.
That’s why I don’t think it’s for everyone. So, before committing to creating a healthy life, I believe the question to ask yourself first is, “What am I willing to do to reap the rewards of thriving health?”
- Are you willing to purchase healthier foods even though they may cost you a little more money?
- Are you willing to shut your electronics off earlier each night and get to bed at an earlier hour?
- Are you willing to “make” the time to challenge your body through physical activity on a regular basis?
- Are you willing to set aside some time each day or each week to journal, read, and learn more about yourself?
- Are you willing to remove or lessen your time with the negative people in your life?
- Are you willing to seek out one or a few other people who will keep you accountable, encouraged, and supported on this journey?
What I’ve realized in both creating a healthy life and a healthy business is that you don’t have to do everything today, but you must move forward somehow everyday.
If you want to build thriving health for the decades to come, it’s going to take a daily effort that will start off hard, but over time as you begin to watch yourself make progress, even the smallest progress, it becomes easier because you become better at it. You’ve created a healthy habit and that feels good. You’ll build more confidence in yourself and that will only positively benefit your business.
So, is a healthy life for you?
That’s up to you to answer.
