Morning Rituals to Change Your Life Part 1

You deserve to have productive, successful, invigorating, blissful days!  Your best year ever happens one day at a time.  Each of those days begins with a morning.  Are your mornings serving you?  If not, you can do to create mornings that will set you up for success and bliss, every single day…consistently.

I personally am not a morning person, so I had fought against creating a morning routine for a long time. But having one in place can have so many benefits:

*It takes the need to think too much in the morning when your brain isn’t yet in gear

*You are confident in the knowledge that if you follow your routine you will be out the door on time every day,   which makes you less stressed

*Giving a routine to your children and other family members can help them to be less stressed also.

*Everyone knows what they are supposed to be doing, so there’s a better chance of a shout free morning.

Based on these positives, I finally developed one for myself. To my delight I discovered that in addition to all the above mentioned benefits, having a morning routine has made my days much more joyful and successful.

The first thing to note is that you already have a morning routine.  It may not be conscious or seem like a routine, but we all have a “way” that we start our days.  Let’s take a look at yours.

What time do you usually wake up in the morning?

How many hours sleep do you usually get?

How are you woken up or to what?

What do you do right after you wake up?

What are all the things you do before you start working?

Here is my morning routine:

Wake up at 8am to my customized alarm sound, push snooze.

Lounge in bed saying gratitudes.

Take dog out.

Drink glass of water

Run to restroom.

Shower

Get dressed

Feed dog

Make and drink smoothie

Take dog for walk to cafe with my husband

Have a cup of coffee with my husband

Come home.

Stretch/dancing meditation for 20 minutes

Start work at 10am

Begin my workday by reading some inspirational quotes.

Now, write down what you are doing.  If you aren’t sure, pay attention for the next week and take notes.  Note your inconsistencies, what you do that you love, the things that add to your stress, and the things that help relieve it. In the next article we can start looking at how to adjust it, a little bit at a time, to make it serve you better.  Don’t worry, we won’t add any time to your morning routine until you are ready.  Our goal here is to adjust it so you have more joyful mornings that will help you to have more productive, blissful days.
